Width is the figure that decides how many you can have, and 62cm is enough to change the answer on a table where a narrower chair would have fitted six. 62cm wide, and the places it buys you

We work to roughly 60cm of clear table edge per place, and at 62cm these chairs are slightly wider than that, so do not plan on squeezing an extra one in. The 60cm depth figure is what the chair takes up front to back pushed in; allow about 90cm of clear floor behind each one so a diner can stand without moving the table. The three figures are given as one unlabelled string, with 96cm the overall height, so if the room is tight ask us to confirm which of 62 and 60 is the width.

Lion knocker or ring knocker

Two things are worth knowing before you choose. First, the detail sits on the back of the chair, so it is what the room sees rather than what the diners see, which makes it a decision about the view from the sofa or the door. Second, the listing does not say how far the knocker stands out from the back, so if the chairs will be pushed up against a painted wall or a radiator when they are not in use, ask us and leave a gap.

The listing does not state what the knocker is made of or how it is finished, only that it is a lion knocker, so if you are matching it to a chrome or gold scheme ask us for a close photograph.

Dark grey, black or mink

The three finishes are dark grey, black and mink. Mink is the one worth thinking hardest about: it is a warm, pale neutral that will either settle a dark room or show every mark at a table used daily, and the listing gives no fibre composition and no cleaning code to help you decide.
