Angel Grey Chair: where its 82cm width actually works
This guide is about
Angel Grey Chair
Read the measurements on this one before anything else. The Angel Grey Chair is listed at 82 x 75 x 74cm, and those are armchair numbers rather than dining-chair numbers. The listing itself says as much, naming living rooms, bedrooms and reading nooks as the places it suits. If you want six of something to tuck under a table, this is not that chair. If you want one soft grey seat with real width to it, the photographs are on the Angel Grey Chair page.
The footprint is the whole story
| As listed | What it decides |
|---|---|
| 82cm | Wall or alcove width it needs, plus a hand's gap each side |
| 75cm | How far it projects into the room, and what is left of your walkway |
| 74cm | Overall height, which is low compared with the tall-backed chairs in this range |
The listing gives one unlabelled size string, so take the order as read with care. On a chair described for lounging rather than dining, the two larger figures are the plan dimensions and 74cm is the height to the top of the back. Ask us to confirm which figure is the width and which is the depth before you order for an alcove, because 82 and 75 are close enough that getting them the wrong way round will cost you the fit.
Measuring the space it goes in
A 75cm depth is the figure that catches people out. Set against a wall it leaves 75cm less room than the bare floor suggests, and you still need somewhere to walk: aim for about 75cm of clear route past it, and more if the chair sits opposite a sofa. In a bedroom corner, check the swing of the door and of any wardrobe door before you decide. If it is going at the end of a dining table as a single comfortable seat, measure the table height against the chair rather than hoping, because a low back and a deep seat put you further from the table edge than a dining chair would.
Grey, and what the listing does not pin down
The upholstery is described only as a soft fabric in a neutral grey. There is no fibre composition, no cleaning code and no named grey reference, which is a problem if the chair has to agree with an existing grey carpet or sofa. Grey is the single hardest colour to buy from a screen, so ask us for a photograph in daylight, or look at it in the shop if you are nearby. Two further gaps worth filling in before you commit:
- Arms. The listing does not state whether the chair has arms, and at 82cm wide that is not a detail you can assume either way. Go by the photographs and confirm with us.
- Seat height. Only the overall height is given. If the chair is going beside a side table or at a table end, seat height is the measurement that matters and it is not in the listing.
- Legs and feet. No leg finish or foot type is stated, so on a hard floor ask whether pads are fitted.
What it sits with
If what you actually want is one enveloping chair in a corner, compare it with the Siena Tub Chair, which is the other soft, wide seat filed in this range. The Oslo Chair is worth a look if the 75cm depth is more than your room can give up, and the Roco 360º Chair (Black Legs) is a swivel option if the chair needs to face two directions, a desk one minute and the window the next. The rest of the seating sits in Dining Chairs.
Before you order
- Mark 82cm by 75cm on the floor with tape and live with it for an evening.
- Check the route past it and any door or wardrobe swing.
- Measure your doorways and the turn at the top of the stairs, since this is a wide, deep piece and the listing does not say whether it arrives assembled.
- Ask us about seat height, arms and the exact grey before you buy.
Delivery is free within 50 miles of our Glasgow store and £50 beyond. When you have the floor marked out, the photographs are on the Angel Grey Chair page, and we are happy to answer the questions the listing leaves open.
