1H Candle Holder: the 35cm height, and where it fits
This guide is about
1H Candle Holder
The 1H Candle Holder is a tall, narrow piece rather than a wide one. Its listing gives a single size: 13 x 13 x 35cm. That is a square base about the width of a side plate under a column a little over a third of a metre high, which makes it one of the taller things in the Mirror Ornaments range and the reason it reads from across a room while a low tray does not.
What 13 x 13 x 35cm asks of a shelf
Two measurements decide whether this works where you want it. The first is the depth of the surface. A 13cm base needs a surface deeper than 13cm or it will overhang, and on a mantelpiece or a floating shelf that overhang is what gets caught by a sleeve. Measure front to back and look for a few centimetres of margin behind the base as well as in front of it.
The second is the clearance above. At 35cm it is tall enough to foul the bottom edge of a wall mirror, a picture frame or the shelf above. Hold a tape vertically from the surface and check you have more than 35cm of clear air, plus a little more again if you intend to light it.
| Listed figure | Measure this before ordering |
|---|---|
| 13cm | Depth of the shelf, mantel or table top, front to back |
| 13cm | Width you can give it without crowding what sits beside it |
| 35cm | Clear height above the surface, to the frame or shelf overhead |
The listing writes the figures in that order and does not label them, so if the exact orientation matters to you, ask the shop to confirm which is the height before you order.
One holder, and what the listing calls it
There is a wrinkle worth knowing. The piece is named as a candle holder and the description calls it a tealight holder. Nothing in the listing gives the diameter of the opening or the candle type it is sized for. If you plan to use anything other than a standard tealight in a metal cup, ask the shop to measure the aperture first.
The finish, as described and no further
The description sets out a mirrored surface and a crushed diamond body that catches light. That is the whole of what is stated. It does not say what the body is made of, what sits behind the mirrored surface, or how the crushed detail is fixed, and this post is not going to guess. Those are reasonable questions for the shop, and so is anything about heat: the listing makes no claim about how the surface handles a lit flame, so keep it clear of curtains and soft furnishings and do not leave a flame unattended.
What it sits alongside
Height is the thing to play with. The Candle Holder Small / Large comes in two heights, so a group of three at different levels is straightforward to assemble. If you want a low line of light instead of a column, the 4H Home Tealight Holder runs 30cm along a surface at only 10cm high. A Mirror Tray underneath gathers a group into one object.
