About the Balmoral Mattress
The Balmoral is the plain, useful mattress that most houses need one of. It is soft, rated 3.5 out of 10 for comfort, with deep cushioning layers that give under the shoulders and hips rather than resisting them. That suits lighter sleepers, teenagers still growing into a full-size bed, and the spare room that has to be genuinely comfortable a dozen nights a year.
Underneath sits a traditional open coil spring system. It is an old design and a hard-wearing one, with the coils linked so that support is carried evenly across the whole surface rather than tuned zone by zone. Hand tufting holds the fillings in place so they do not shift and thin, and the soft stretch-knit Damask cover keeps the surface smooth and breathable.
At 30cm deep and turnable, it rewards a little routine care. Rotate and flip it through the year and it wears evenly from end to end.
